Potash: this time more boom than bubble

June 9, 2022

Back in 2008 we saw a dramatic potash bubble, when muriate of potash — the basic potassium fertiliser — reached about US$1000/t. That did not last long: by 2010 it was back to about $400/t, and then in 2016 and 2020 dropped to almost $200/t.

However, recently it threatened to go through $1200/t, before retreating (slightly). This time, though, it’s more boom than bubble.
